SLEEPLESS NIGHTS: THE MUSIC OF DANIEL FELSENFELD
Sleepless Nights, the music of Daniel Felsenfeld, is a collection of collaborations between a single composer and some of the most accomplished and varied contemporary author. The Nouveau Classical Project, known for “bringing a refreshing edge” to classical music (VICE) will be joined by conductor Whitney George, singers Ariadne Greif and Marcy Richardson, violinist Amanda Lo, and cellist Caleigh Drane. Rick Moody will read from his novel The Diviners.
About the Music
Taking from Rick Moody’s novel The Diviners, Felsenfeld fashioned The Light; the elegiac words of Elizabeth Hardwick are used in From Sleepless Nights; Robert Coover’s overtly ribald filth makes the text of Raw Footage; and Moody, Jonathan Lethem, Fiona Maazel and Stephen Elliott all provided unpublished texts for the cycle A Genuine Willingness to Help.
